Lift Plan Dynamics

This page is created after a recent posting that generates interest in AutoCAD dynamic blocks for lift plan.

It is with high hopes that this page will help many in similar industry.

Many have tried creating dynamic blocks. They have taken advantage of them. This leads to time saved for tasks that are more critical or unique.

Not many had any idea to show calculated results within the block.
Stay tuned to what will be reveal here on this site..

8) Grommets or Endless Slings

Created 08SEP2025

This dynamic block helps to quickly create grommets to enhance your lift plans.

7) Load Distribution Calculation

Created 27AUG2025

This dynamic block shows how the load is distributed to supports.
It can also displays the load on the kingpin of a gooseneck trailer and the axles.

Insert the block at the CoG, drag each end to where the load will be distributed.

5) Vector Triangle for tension calculation

Posted 20AUG2025

Brief instructions:

a) Insert block at the right lifting lug and enter the load mass in custom property.
b) Rotate the compression vector towards the second lug.
c) Rotate the green vector vector towards the hook-block.
d) Position block insert point on the next sling location.
e) Rotate the blue vector towards the other lifting lug.

AutoCAD Dynamic Block for combined CoG calculation

Note: Please insert new block instead of copying existing block.
I have come to notice that, with “Rotational constraint”. It tends to modify the original block that it was copied from.

1a) Interpolated Capacity

Posted: 12Jul2025

An illustration was posted to create awareness of the capabilities of AutoCAD dynamic blocks beyond most people’s imagination.
This was the interpolated capacity of a crane that was displayed within AutoCAD.
This makes lift plan easier as the capacity chart was also incorporated within the block. It eliminates the need to fall back on the crane chart whenever the working radius changes.

1b) 3D Crane (Interpolated Capacity)

Posted: 13Jul2025

It doesn’t take a lot to make this 3D version. Which is just a matter of adding 3-Dimensional entities to the existing 2D blocks.

2) Automated Sling Tension calculation

Posted: 18Jul2025

This illustration created a surge in audience and some have requested for a copy.
It has never been my style to give a tool to anyone without letting them know what’s under the hood. So when things fall apart, they will know how to fix it.
Instead of giving away something that was created ad hoc to make a presentation. I’d rather show what’s under the hood and help them create the tools they need.

It’s not because I don’t wish to share. I would prefer that you build it on your own with a little help from this page. If you have requested for a copy. I’m sorry to have disappointed you. I hope you will manage to create it independently.

Here it is. The cat out of the bag.
If you have created dynamic blocks before. This would be easy as soon as the secret is revealed. You’ll be asking why you didn’t thought of that.

Heavy Haulage Dynamics

a) Lashing Calculations

Scheduled: Week 5

I have always wonder if there is anyone else in the world. Whom have created lashing plan for securing a load on a trailer.
Where every single lashing is drawn to scale on 2D drawings.
Thereafter, with a few clicks to extract the information for processing in an embedded Excel table in the same drawing. Updating the table as lashing points changes or shifted.
This illustration will showcase how it is done.

b) Heavy Haulage load distribution

Scheduled: Week 6

This features the ease of positioning a load on a drake trailer.
Where, a safe zone is identified such that the drive axles will not be overloaded.
A load distribution table gets updated in real-time whenever the load is relocated.

c) Heavy Haulage transport stability

Scheduled: Week 7

Whenever a load is being transported. Stability is one of the major concerns. This is especially true when the trailer is in motion. It is also important when it climbs a hill, makes a turn, and gradually comes to a stand-still.
The industry maintained a 7 degree tipping reference. Where the CoG of the load makes with the trailer deck. Maintaining this angle will guarantee that a proper load distribution among the hydraulic system.

This custom dynamic block eliminates the hassles of drawing a stability triangle. It also determines the tipping arm of the stability system. All with a few clicks and dragging.
